Press release

Supper Club Stephen
(Stephen Crout) 202-422-2198

A phenomenon is taking root in DC. Supper Club Stephen is now available for your dining pleasure and your dining curiosity. It is a private club, the location of which is only revealed days before a scheduled feast (hint: it is in NW DC, specifically the Crestwood neighborhood). There is a donation required in order to attend. It is $75 per person (which includes a full flight of wines), or $50 for those who do not imbibe. You will be greeted at the door with a cocktail (non-alcoholic options are available). There will a passed hors d'oeuvre, to be followed by an exquisite four-course dinner. The menu is determined entirely by your hosts. If you have food allergies or dislikes it would be a great idea to mention same when requesting a reservation. There is room for a maximum of 12 guests. Unfortuntately, initially we cannot accommodate vegans or vegetarians.

At the end of this announcement you will find the tentative menu for the opening event, scheduled for Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 7 pm.

This is a unique dining experience, so you should consider making your reservation as soon as possible after the announcement of an impending dinner. What is guaranteed is a special experience. You will be served an exquisite salad, a savory soup, an entree, and either a dessert or a cheese and fruit final course. The wine pairings will have been selected in consultation with a professional sommelier. Entrees will run the gamut of culinary experience, from beef or lamb or pork to chicken or seafood. It will titillate your taste buds, test your palate, and/or take you to a level of taste and texture that you have dreamed about and perhaps rarely experienced.

One might ask, “Why a private dining club?” Simply this: such an endeavor requires an investment that is almost entirely devoted to the quality and variety of the food. It offers some special possibilities, from precise preparations of proteins to carefully constructed ancillary courses. Did you ever long for a soup that reminded you of your childhood, a salad that made you realize for the first time in a long time the crunch and cravings you once had, a bit of meat or fish or poultry that sends you to a place you thought you would never again visit, a piece of cheese and fruit you had long since forgotten were so delicious? If any of that is true, Supper Club Stephen may be for you.
